Remote website

Hello,
I am using fp2003 with fp ftp to upload my files. When I click on remote website I get a split display of local and remote folders. The files are matched and arrows and other symobls next to each file tell me which files need to be updated. After updates, the symbols change accordingly.

Now this has suddenly disappeared. All I get is all arrows in local folder and nothing in remote. Uploading files does not change the status of any file. Does anyone know what happened and how to get it back?

RE: Remote website (in reply to Tina

All files on local side, none on the remote side.
I figured it out, I ran some windows and components updates which must have had some update to fp and reverted my website settings. I went into remote website properties/settings and changed it back to publish only updated/different files and it is working like before again.

BTW, that post was pure genius, not, i panicked because a couple of days earlier my laptop was infected and the updates were part of the recovery, virus removal progs can't always restore files to original state so i decided the updates should overwrite any post-virus damage. The computer works fine but when I saw different behaviour in fp when publishing my website, the panic took over the reason and I thought there was something wrong with the program ...

Best regards
Jack

Here's how to clean up old temp files. This sometimes solves FrontPage publishing problems.

* In Internet Explorer, select the Tools menu and choose Internet Options... in the Browsing History section, click Delete Files then click Temporary Internet Files. Note: In versions other than IE7 this sequence may vary.

* In Windows, click the Start button... All Programs... Accessories... System Tools... Disk Cleanup. Wait 2-5 minutes or more while Disk Cleanup scans your hard drive. Make sure there are checks in the boxes for Temporary Internet Files, Temporary Files, Web Client/Publisher Temporary Files, and Temporary Offline Files, then click OK.

Note: The following menu sequences are for FrontPage 2003. Prior FrontPage versions may differ.

* In FrontPage, with your site open, select the Tools menu and choose Site Settings... Advanced tab... Delete Temporary Files.

* Select the Tools menu and choose Recalculate. Wait 1-3 minutes or more for it to finish.

* Select any file in the Folder list then select the view menu and choose Refresh.

* Select the File menu and choose Close Site. Then close FrontPage and restart your computer.
