Jimmy Crabb -> A Boring Site... (7/28/2008 3:43:33 AM)

I did this one for a friend of my dad's - it all about laboratory and chemical drainage systems which is super boring!

Anyway - I have tried to make the site "pop" a little with a video animation and stuff, but I'm still not happy with it. Any ideas on how to add a little zing to a site about a really boring subject?

For starters, give the #container it's own white background and then play with the body by giving it a different background color. Try #333333 for the body and see how that looks. Adjust to suit.

The menu...the links should change from yellow to a darker color when hovered or on current page. Also, have the background on hover to be a slightly different color from the default blue you have.

The heading 'Latest Projects' and 'Other's has dark black text on dark blue background. BAD color contrast making it hard to read.

Try changing those first and then work from there.

Either loop the animation on the landing page or give us some stop/play/pause buttons.

A quick note. I would suggest padding on the table/tables. I did not look at your html, but from what I can see, much needs padding. That will help. thanks, Beau

definitely need some padding.
also which is the proper logo: the one in the header or the one in the main copy? i'm guessing it's the second one... just use the proper one in both places.

how about something more like this (ignore the messed-up layout ;)
