Unable to Create New Frontpage Web

Hello,

I have a Frontpage Web "wwwroot" in the inetpub folder that works perfectly fine. I have created a copy of the web in a new folder "wwwroot2" on the same directory level. When I go to frontpage and select Open Site and try to open wwwroot2, the hourglass spins forever and frontpage times-out. When I've done this in the past it says that frontpage needs to add some files to the directory and it opens as a new frontpage web. Could anyone pleae tell me why frontpage is unable to open this folder as a new web?

Thanks in advance

-Rich

How did you create the copy of the web?
My guess is that you did a simple copy/paste and that won't work.
You need to use the FrontPage "Publish" utility to publish the site to the new location--whether its on your own hard drive, a CD, a thumb drive, another host, etc. otherwise all of the necessary FP files won't be moved over correctly.

Thanks for your help. Your correct, we did a simple copy/paste. Is there any way to fix the newly created directory, eg. somehow copy over the necessary files? If so, which files would need to be copied over?

Thanks

Either make sure you are viewing the system and hidden files when copying the files to the new location, or easier, make a copy of the FOLDER itself. As noted, publishing to the new folder is the best way to go.
