Tools - Server greyed out

I recently began experimenting with security/server permissions trying to create a login page. Now I am unable to access permissions in Frontpage 2002 or 2003. In 2002 'Security' under Tools is greyed out, 'Server' under Tools is greyed out in 2003. I have reinstalled both versions. It's not tied to a specific page. I've searched for hours. Microsoft's support doesn't help either. Can anyone help? I really don't want to re-os my machine :(.

Are your opening the web site "live" on the server? (Start Front Page, ask it to open a web site, give the long url to your web site, provide username/password)

Thanks! Wow, I can't believe that was the problem...makes sense though.

Another question, I now get an error while trying to add a user through the permissions site? Says I've exceeded the quota? How do I change the quota?

Could be a limit set by the hosting company. Check with them first.

Again, you're right. For some reason IIS 6 which is the only way to host FP extensions on Godaddy on a Windows based server. IIS 6 doesn't support more than one user. I have to switch to a Linux based server in order to add multiple users.

Another question since you seem to have a firm grip on FP.

I'm trying to get my form to show the field 'From' as the sender of the form. I set it up according to FP guidelines but the main account address still shows up as the from email address. The reason this is important so I can setup an autoreply. Suggestions?

Hi Jon,
Welcome to the defunct world of FrontPage. First, a good ASP or .NET login application can solve your first issue. You don't need to set server permissions for users you just need to verify users against a database of usernames/passowrds. I don't know any free applications but developers install these all day for around $150.00 US.
Second, you should try using CDONTS or CDOSYS to send email since the limits of FP are too great to be of any use. Lots of examples on this site search CDOSYS or CDONTS) and more to Google.
