Server Connection Timed Out error

Server Connection Timed Out error

Using FP 2003 locally.

I can open an Access 2003 database and make a change, say delete a query, then close the database I get a "Server Connection Timed Out" error and the change does not hold.

This has never happened before. Can anyone help in resolving this issue?

You should never edit a database "live" by opening it on the server in a local program and then trying to save the changes. You may take down the entire server.
First, let's say your database is called "mydata.mdb"
Download the db to your hard drive. Make and save your db changes to the local machine. Rename your local db to something like "mydata_new.mdb". Upload the changed and re-named db to your host server. Now, "live" on the host server rename "mydata.mdb" to something like "mydata_old.mdb" and rename your "mydata_new.mdb" to the original db name "mydata.mdb".
You're done!

Thanks but I know that. I was opening the database from FP on the LOCAL machine.

I have always done this for quick changes locally without issue.

Also, if I try to download the live server db to my local using FP I get the same error. Never have before.

Incidentally no changes have been made to the system.

I would really like to know what is causing this to appear suddenly.

Have you tried starting Access and opening the database? Perhaps trying to open the db from inside FP is causing the error.
