Mutli editors question

If I design a site in frontpage and upload it to a host. I would like my client to be able to edit text and and upload delete photos from the centre of chosen pages from a browser interface.

What is the best way to achieve this?

I do not want them to be able to edit the template/theme.

thanks

If you want them to edit/update the contents only using the browser, you should look into using CMS (content management system).

Open Source CMS

Scroll down a bit and look at the menu on the left. Some of the more popular ones are Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, and CMS Made Simple.

There is also Wordpress which is under Blogs. Even though it's a blog software, it can work well as a CMS too.

The FrontPage Included Content feature is perfect for this.

* Put the content area photos, texts, etc. onto a page by itself, which the client can edit.

* In the main page with the theme and other page elements, leave a blank center area into which the content will be included. In design view, place the blinking cursor at the point where the included page goes then select the Insert menu and choose Web Component... Included Content... Page... and browse to the content page.

Won't the client then need to purchase Front Page and learn how to use it?
Easier to use a CMS.

Yes, if this is a FrontPage site then the client would use FrontPage to edit his/her content page.

I just don't see how you can recommend FP over CMS. FP doesn't write code well and doesn't handle CSS at all. With CMS you can control the editor and the user is limited by how the editor is configured. There's no learning curve. There's nothing to buy. It's all web-based.

RE: Mutli editors question (in reply to Merlin21c

I don't necessarily recommend FP over any other technology. But this is a FrontPage forum and his question was how to enable a client to edit one page in a FrontPage site.

He was requesting a way to do it via browser and not FP which is why CMS was suggested.

Your're not the only one. I can remember a few times that you pointed (indirectly) out a few things that I misread.
