Image Location Problem

Hello people of this forum, I have an issue with the Image Scripting Location for a picture on my site.

I have been advised the script needs to direct to the server instead of my computer, if I understand correctly. The image is in the files at the server and on my desktop where it was uploaded from and shows up when viewed in FrontPage but not on the site after publishing.

Will someone please advise me how to go about correcting this matter ?

Thanks for Your Help.

I have had this problem before myself. With me, it was due to not having the images loaded on the server. Maybe you forgot to upload them? Otherwise in FrontPage, you can right click on the image and go to properties. There is a box where it tells you the file you want to have in your picture and its location, you should check if there is something wrong with there.

Other than that, there is nothing I know that could help you.

RE: Image Location Problem (in reply to John in Ca.

Yes Thank You.
I do have the picture uploaded to the files on the server and to the files of my Local website in Frontpage as well.
When I open the Properties for the image it has the location in Grey and I am unable to edit the information and make the image appear on the web.
At a loss for how I should approach this. Tried using the assistant for many versions of my question with no luck. Tried search engines listing my question and get nowhere also.

Surely other people have had the same problem before me...

Waiting and Seeking for a solution...

Did you fix it? I don't see any missing pictures.

No it has not been fixed. The original location was at the top left side of the page. I deleted the image from FP and hope to get some direction here.

background="file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/David/Desktop/images/topnavbg.jpg"
I see in the code the background image is in a folder on the destop of your computer, not in your web folder. You need to drag and drop the image file into the /image folder in your web folder then publish to the web server. The HTML should look like this.

background="images/topnavbg.jpg"

Ok, I tried to do what you advised. Placed a copy of the image in the web file and still no change. Modified the HTML to read what you posted and still no luck. What could I have done wrong ?? It was easy to follow the advice.

How can this be changed ?

RE: Image Location Problem (in reply to John in Ca.

There are several other instances of file names referring to your computer that you also need to correct in the same manner as the first. You can find these in the HTML code.

In addition, the missing graphic file (Optimal CalCity.jpg) appears to be in the /_private/images folder, which won't work because the /_private folder is not available for viewing by the public. That file should be moved to the /images folder outside the _private folder.

Additional info: it is helpful to name your files using all lowercase and no spaces to help reduce errors and confusion.

I will continue working on this... it is making me crazy, since in the beginning it was so easy to install the pictures. What happened ?

RE: Image Location Problem (in reply to John in Ca.

This usually happens when you insert a picture file into a web page and the picture file is not located in your web.

The correct way is to drag and drop a copy of the file into the web within FrontPage then insert the picture into the web page.

That is good to know. I am still working on my files.

Presently I downloaded the trial version of Expression Web 2 and am trying to get familiar with the program.

Thanks alot for taking the time to comment and trying to advise me here.

I Really appreciate it.

RE: Image Location Problem (in reply to John in Ca.

Finally !!!
With great effort in research and information offered here, I have managed to insert the missing image.
It might also have something to do with the fact that I downloaded and installed the Expression Web trial software.
In my beginners opinion, this program does make the process better overall.

I completely understand that my site is not technically good, yet it is mine and I was able to make it visually acceptable. It appears that all the links work like they should too !!

glad you got it fixed, but that blue text is way too hard to read against that yellow background! i guess you're were aiming for something sunny but it's just too bright and the blue text dances on the page ;)

this isn't as bright but maybe it's a bit sunnier
http://pp.kpnet.fi/prescott/stuff/The%20New%20CalCity.BIZ.htm

and using the darker text as in As it Appears to be
"The Last Affordable Place"
to Live and Work that is
commutable for Los Angeles and
Bakersfield based business.
